Horse. Continuous line with alternate shading. Mick Burton, 1966.

Horse. My first single continuous line drawing animal with Optical Art alternate shading, Mick Burton, 1966.

This was my first serious attempt at a continuous line animal. I had seen Bridget Riley optical Op Art pictures and liked the effect. The horse is based on a Thomas Stubbs painting of a horse being savaged by a Lion ( I removed the terror). The Horse was later produced as a screenprint, and then in wire and steel strip.
