Whirlpool in Space, or Petrol Poluted Puddle. Spherical single continuous line drawing with repeat colour sequence with Rainbow colours. Mick Burton, Continuous Line, 1971.

After I have been applying my Colour Sequence theory to Continuous Line Drawings for some time, I found a book in the Library with a front cover which looked like my drawings. It was about “Winding Number Theory”. Basically each time your line wound round an extra time in the same direction you add another level or overlap. If you reverse direction the levels reduce. I thought I would do a picture with lots of levels and I needed to keep repeating my sequence. This was exhibited in the front window of the Chenil Art Gallery in Chelsea.
