Coloured Lines and Areas in three colours. Mick Burton, 1971

Coloured lines and areas in three colours, using Spherical continuous line drawing. Mick Burton, 1971.

A Spherical continuous line is where you draw the line out of one edge (eg. the left) and come back in at the opposite corresponding place, or draw out of the top and back in at the bottom. I have varied the thickness of the line and included the lines in the shading, using just three colours. When you colour a Spherical drawing with a sequence of colours, opposite sides match in one direction (eg. round the “equator” but not the other, eg. top with bottom (the “poles”).
