My first attempt at a portrait was building on my continuous line technique of incluuing specific detail to identify the subject and more random lines elsewhere. I had been a Police Cadet and Constable in the early 1960’s and closely observed the introduction of the Identity Kit for tracing suspects. Basically it was making choices from loads of alternatives for eyes, nose, ears, hair, width of face etc.
